Kentucky's Panopticon and Washington DC's Vestiges have teamed up to release a split LP on The Flenser Records, and you should get it because it's (predictably) really good. Both band's are donating 100% of the proceeds from digital downloads of the album to The United Way of Oklahoma to benefit victims of the recent tornado, too.
The LP is 5 tracks long with Panopticon contributing 3 songs and Vestiges contributing 2. All of the material on this album is previously unreleased, and both bands brought their A game so there's no danger of disappointment. Further more, Colin Marston (he of Krallice and Dysrhythmia fame) mastered the whole affair so you can rest assured that it sounds wicked sweet.
For those of you not in the know, Panopticon is a one man atmospheric folk post-black metal project that's responsible for Kentucky – one of 2012's best metal albums. Vestiges is a new band that just formed in 201o. They play crusty post-black metal and once covered "Zombie" by The Cranberries. While all of that probably sounds confusing and frightening to you, this split is still well worth your time.
If you're apprehensive, you can stream the album on The Flenser's Bandcamp page. You could also download the split for free from that page, but don't be a cheap jerk. Instead, buy the digital album directly from Vestiges or Panopticon  so you can help some people in their time of need. The Flenser is also releasing a physical LP that you can pre-order here for sixteen measly dollars if you're one of those luddites who still clings to physical media.
Come on guys, give this LP a shot. Drop a few dollars on it if you like what you hear. Your money's going to a great cause AND you'll be getting 40 minutes worth of tasty tunes.
