As we were leaving the Summer Slaughter (watch our coverage here), somebody casually mentioned to me, "Hey, did you see that Randy Johnson was in the pit taking photos of us?" And I was all like, "Wait, former MLB world champion pitcher, Randy 'The Big Unit' Johnson?" Turns out, it's the same guy! You can see him in the photo above with Periphery guitarist Mark Holcomb.
A quick Google search turns up Randy Johnson Photography, a collection of very impressive snaps from recent rock concerts like Rammstein, Slayer and Ted Nugent. According to his Twitter bio, Johnson "studied photography at USC before [his] 'day job' in MLB got in the way."
Just to prove it, he has a post of pretty killer vintage photographs of Judas Priest, Motorhead, Twisted Sister and more. Last Friday was Johnson's first time seeing Cannibal Corpse and here is his tweet-review of the show:
