Rob Halford "Just Not Interested" In Listening To Tim Owens-Era JUDAS PRIEST

"I'm really just not interested."

Vocalist Rob Halford left Judas Priest in 1992 and returned in 2003. The band ultimately recruited Tim "Ripper" Owens in 1996, and recorded both the Demolition and Jugulator albums. When asked by Classic Rock if he's ever heard the Owens-era stuff, Halford said he hasn't and he's not really interested in it. He clarifies that Owens is a good friend of his and that it's nothing personal.

"No. I still haven't. This might sound selfish, but because it's not me singing, I'm not attracted to it. I sound like a twat, but I'm really just not interested. And that's no disrespect to Ripper, 'cause he's a friend of mine."

Halford said he met Owens for the first time after rejoining the band at a show in Ohio, and everything was cool.

"Was it awkward? Not in the least. We gave each other a hug. He's a massive Priest fan, and when the opportunity came for me to go back, he was, like, 'Thumbs up, it's great. I'm happy for the band, I'm happy for Rob.' I respect his chops; he's a great singer."

Owens currently fronts KK's Priest, the new band headed up by guitarist K.K. Downing. As for Judas Priest, they're out on the road with Sabaton. Catch 'em at one of the dates below.
