OMG. OMG! OMG!!!!
Perhaps I am a bit too excited but last night Faith No More took to Facebook to announce they have a Twitter account:
And then over that Twitter, their first tweet is:
Hey! Stay tuned for more Tweets from Twats!!!
The reunion thing was fun, but now it's time to get a little creative. pic.twitter.com/6RBFE7aHbd— Faith No More (@FaithNoMore) May 30, 2014
OMG. OMG! OMG!!!!
Naturally, I and every other FNM fan out there are reading into this to mean that the band are "getting creative" by working on some new music. Could it be?
In a 2012 interview with News.com.au, frontman Mike Patton was less enthused about new material:
“We’re pretty happy with just touring. There was talk, ‘Should we write new stuff?’ and we all looked at each other and said ‘Nahhh, fuck it.’ We did work up one new little thing and that was really energizing.”
A year later, in another interview he was even less enthused about new material:
“It’s sort of petered out. We’re also maybe a little too conscious for our own good. Meaning there’s a lineage of bands that maybe did some nice things and then needed the cash and got back together and basically just sprayed diarrhea over their entire body of work. We’re very worried about that. We don’t want to overdo it.”
But you know what? What if after all these gigs, they started jamming and thinking, hey, why the hell not? They are a collection of very talented musicians, so who's to say they can't come up with a few more memorable and catchy numbers?
It can't be any worse than that Soundgarden album that came out last year, amirite?!?
