Let's Talk SUMMER SLAUGHTER Tour Band Rumors

Could the Black Dahlia Murder be making their Summer Slaughter return?

Could the Black Dahlia Murder be making their Summer Slaughter return?

With the rumors circulating today about the initial Mayhem Fest lineup, I figured we would take a look at the other annual summer touring festival, the more extreme Summer Slaughter tour.

So far, the only thing that's confirmed about the tour, other than it is definitely happening again this year, is that all the bands will be playing Heavy Montreal festival this year. But what about the bands?

The first band to publicly hint at their appearance on the extreme summer festival is all-star group, Lock Up. The band features Brutal Truth's Kevin Sharp on vocals, Napalm Death's Shane Embry on bass, Nic Barker on drums and guitarist Anton Reisenegger. The band tweeted this earlier today:

Lock Up are a solid band to have on the bill, but certainly not headliners. Perhaps the headliner is a band that the Summer Slaughter tour page hinted at recently:

The Black Dahlia Murder have headlined the fest before and are currently working on a new album, so this would be the perfect headlining tour to support it.

Another tease made by the Summer Slaughter Facebook page was for Arch Enemy, with a status reading "You Will Know My Name," which just so happens to be the current Arch Enemy single title. (Here's the music video.)

The tour also posted a teaser about Obscura, who are also in the midst of completing a new album.

So right now, we got The Black Dahlia Murder, Arch Enemy (with Jeff Loomis in tow), Obscura and Lock Up as early teases for the tour? Sounds like a rather solid bill to me.

One thing missing here is a little Sumerian Records representation, since the label owner is also the main tour promoter. If I had to go on a limb, I'd guess that The Faceless and Veil of Maya would be added onto the bill as well seeing as though they have new albums on the horizon as well. But that is pure speculation.

Who would you want to see on the tour this year?
