Marty Friedman Isn't Not Returning To MEGADETH

Alternate Headline: Marty Friedman doesn't completely dismiss ridiculous idea.

You may have heard Megadeth are in need of a new guitarist. They apparently already found a new drummer.

Of course, the golden era lineup of the band featured Mustaine, Ellefson, guitarist Marty Friedman and drummer Nick Menza. Menza for his part recently stated he was open to returning even though Mustaine wants nothing to do with him.

Naturally, somebody asked Marty Friedman recently if he'd consider returning to Megadeth. He said:

“I don’t really have an answer for you, I know that people would want to know. Honestly I don’t have an answer. I have never said never to anything in my life, so who knows? I really don’t know.”

Naturally, this lead to other publications running absurd headlines like "Marty Friedman open to Megadeth Return" which isn't exactly inaccurate, but I mean…come on, why would he return? Does he really need to tour 10 months out of the year with a guy I'm assuming he no longer gets along with? Friedman has been doing his own thing in Japan for over a decade with his own bands, running his own operation and now he would just take orders from Mustaine? Why would he want to do this?

And again, I ask, why would Mustaine even want him back? He can pay somebody with comparable talent (to a point, I mean this is Marty FN Friedman) far less money than he would have to pay Friedman and the result would be virtually the same.

Relax people. Marty Friedman is not coming back to Megadeth.
