A few days ago, drummer Lars Ulrich was teasing that Metallica were about to hit "another frontier" in December that would be announced soon. The band has been keeping quiet, but have some fans in Colombia figured out what it is?
Some serious Metallica fans noticed that the Colombian Coca Cola Zero website is currently holding a contest allowing one lucky fan and a friend to fly to Antartica to see Metallica perform live. Wait, what?!
I guess playing the seventh global continent is definitely a new frontier for the band, as it's the only area in this world that the band hasn't played.
You have to wonder if the band will actually be offering any tickets to the event or they will all be given away via similar Coke giveaways. I can't imagine the band doing VIP packages where you buy a ticket to the show and a flight to Antartica. The population of Antartica consists mostly of scientists, so at least they'll have some fun.
But don't be too heavy, Metallica…or you'll be…trapped…under…oh, you get it!
