Last we heard in July from frontman Maynard James Keenan, the album is coming along at the rate it's coming along, and will be done when it's done. Keenan says it's really up to the band and he's ready to go whenever.
In the meantime, Tool might have some gifts up its sleeve. According to an email from drummer Danny Carey in response to a fan trying to get some vinyl posted to Reddit, Tool is remastering its catalogue for a vinyl release "in the near future."
I wonder if this has anything to do with the rumor of Tool's music finally coming to streaming services that initially began in March? As in, maybe the remastering process is for the vinyl and for the streaming releases? That is, if the email is legitimate.
