Slipknot drummer Jay Weinberg recently stopped by the grave of late Slipknot bassist Paul Gray to pay his respects in the form of a nice note written on a drum stick. One Redditor found and transcribed the note:
"Dear Paul – I hope you're proud of the music we've created. Your presence guides this band in spirt + and sound. I think you'll dig the new record. At least I hope you do. All the respect and love in the world. We are not your kind.
Long live the Knot -Jay"
What a fitting and nice way to pay respects at a grave, from a drummer to a bassist. For those unaware, Paul Gray was the founding bassist of Slipknot in 1995. Gray passed away in 2010, and Weinberg joined in place of ex-drummer Joey Jordison in 2014. Unfortunately Weinberg and Gray never got to perform together, but it's still awesome to see the love from Weinberg.
Found a drumstick with a letter to Paul from Jay at #2's grave. from r/Slipknot
Correction: This post initially stated the note was left on Vinnie Paul's grave. We deeply regret the mistake.
