SLIPKNOT's The End, So Far Is The Second Highest-Charting Hard Rock Album This Year

A certain Swedish band has 'em beat.

Slipknot

Slipknot's final effort on Roadrunner Records is selling just fine.

According to Billboard, The End, So Far debuted at No. 2 the Billboard 200 chart with 59,000 equivalent album units earned. That number is comprised of 50,500 actual album sales, 8,000 streaming equivalent albums (or about 11 million streams), and 500 track equivalent albums. For those unaware, each equivalent unit equals "one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album."

So why second place? Unfortunately Slipknot couldn't top Ghost's latest record Impera, which came in at No. 2 the week of its release with 70,000 equivalent album units earned. But hey, Slipknot still did extremely well for themselves! Plus The End, So Far is now Slipknot's sixth top 10-charting album on the Billboard 200. Though we'd love to know how many of those copies sold have the wrong title on the cover.

The End, So Far is (again) Slipknot's final record on Roadrunner Records, where the band doesn't seem like they were too happy lately. In a recent interview discussing the band's future, Taylor said of their now-former label "Roadrunner is not what it used to be. It's not even a shadow of what it used to be. So there's no real urgency for us to stick with them to do anything. And because all of the people that we started with are gone, and they were fired in a very unceremonious way to the point where the last couple years."
