The Agonist has recruited Pavlo Haikalis of The History Of Flying Objects as their live bassist for their upcoming U.S. dates. According to The Agonist, usual bassist Chris Kells is currently banned from the U.S. after an issue with improper documentation.
"Hey guys, you should know that that unfortunately, our bassist will not be on the upcoming NA tour. Long story short, several years ago Chris was crossing into the USA for his day job (he does video production for a living), and his employer gave him improper documentation. This resulted in him basically being forced to sign a form which banned him from entering for a determined time. Good news is, you'll see him in Europe very soon!! ?
Kells also issued his own statement regarding the ban.
"Well it's been 4 years since I last had to make this post. I had hoped it would have been the first and last time I would have to make this statement but unfortunately the USA border control agency and I still aren't friends.
"I am still in the process of taking all the right measures to get rid of this awful mess that has been put over my head and hope to have it all cleared up sometime in the near future.
"I am deeply saddened about this whole situation. The Agonist is my baby, my family and my everything. Nothing upsets me more than to not see everyone's beautiful faces screaming and yelling every night from the stage and meeting everyone at our merch table. This is something I have worked for my entire life and to have it taken away from me is just heartbreaking.
"All this BS should be squared away soon, but until then we have our long time friend and amazing musician Pavlo Haikalis from The History Of Flying Objects once again taking the stage left for me on this US run. Please welcome him with open arms and metal horns the same you would do to me.
"In the meantime I'll be home in Montreal editing some new Agonist content for you all and getting ready for our kickass run in Europe. I can't wait to be back up there with everyone after such a long break. See you all this summer!"
The Agonist will hit the road in a few weeks with Hypocrisy, Carach Angren, and Hideous Divinity.
