Tom Morello was feelin' it during a gig at 101WKQZ's Piqniq at the Hollywood Casino Amphitheater in Tinley Park, IL. At the closing of the show, Morello invited a bunch of fans onstage. One fan thought it would be the perfect moment to go up to Tom and attempt to take a selfie. Morello, in the midst of a rippin' guitar solo, looked up and in an instant, grabbed the phone and flinged it into the crowd.
There is video footage of the incident, ironically, from another fan's cellphone footage:
Tom Morello is a savage! Live in the moment lmfao @101WKQX pic.twitter.com/SN98lVtzMz

Morello retweeted the video, adding a caption "Put a phone in my face onstage and I'll throw it. #LiveInTheMoment"
When a fan asked"But would you take a selfie with a fan offstage," the Rage Against the Machine guitarist replied, "All day."
According to 101WKQZ's official recap, Morello explicitly stated during his gig that fan's shouldn't put a phone in his face or “I’ll smack it.”
Morello is certainly a man of his word. No word if the fan actually recovered his cellphone.
