Recently a rumor surfaced that the classic Guns N' Roses lineup might reunite for the Soundwave 2016 festival, sparking all kinds of talk among rock and metal fans alike. One of the most curious pieces of seeming evidence in the case was the fact that Soundwave organizer AJ Maddah wasn't saying anything… and now he has! It's also bad news.
According to Maddah in an interview with Music Feeds, the likelihood of that lineup sitting together in a room would take an astronomical amount of work.
"It's been nice for me personally to share this fantasy for a few days along with the fans, but it is not happening for [next year's edition of Soundwave].
"I sure hope those guys do get back together again, as there has never been, or, as far as I am concerned, ever will be such a potent force for rock 'n' roll than the original GNR in full flight."
"If [a reunion of the classic lineup of Guns N' Roses] does happen, it is going to take longer than six months for the band to be ready to tour. I think it'll take a hundred lawyers six months just to get the five of them into a rehearsal room together. But if, by a miracle, it does happen, then, of course, I'll throw everything I can to be involved and it would be my last act as a promoter, as after that I'll have nowhere to go!"
Well damn… unless this is all a coverup?! I mean, probably not, but at this point a lot of us will grasp for straws that might not even be there. Keep in mind too this is just for the Soundwave festival and not a definitive "no" to a reunion- this is just Maddah talking. So we'll see how the rest of the year pans out.
