Legendary Japanese metal band X Japan will be making their Coachella debut this year, but perhaps more importantly is the return of their drummer Yoshiki. Yoshiki bowed out of the band's live performances in May 2017 after emergency surgery last May to replace a cervical vertebral disc, so be sure to give him a big welcome back at the show.
The press release also says there will be some "very special guests gracing the stage" at Coachella, which may or may not be alluding to the fact that Limp Bizkit guitarist Wes Borland will be playing with them. I'd be really interested in hearing how X Japan and Borland got hooked up, but good on Borland regardless! Dude is plenty talented and deserves the attention.
X Japan will play on both April 14 and April 21 at the festival, and will also be screening their award-winning documentary We Are X between the two dates. Oh, and even better, X Japan is working on their first album since 1996 due out sometime later this year.
For reference, X Japan was a band from 1982 to 1997, and then again from 2007 to present day.
