LAMB OF GOD Frontman Reveals The Good Karma Of Selling His Grammy Medallion For Charity

The guy he sold it to is also now selling it for charity.

The guy he sold it to is also now selling it for charity.

Years back, Lamb Of God vocalist Randy Blythe sold off his Grammy medallion he received for the nomination of the band's song "Redneck" in the Best Metal Performance category to help out a friend.

In an Instagram post, Blythe specifies at the time he was trying to raise money "to benefit Myontonic Muscular Dystrophy research, a disease my friend @toddbstone’s two sons had been diagnosed with." Now a full 11 years later and his friend is selling that very same medallion to benefit Blythe's sister-in-law Bianca’s GoFundMe to pay for her breast cancer treatment.

Blythe has linked to the auction, which you can find here. As of press time, the medallion is currently going for $510. Obviously the circumstances aren't great, but seeing good karma coming and going around is always heartwarming.

“Bid on this Lamb Of God memorabilia and do some good! This original Grammy Nomination Medallion was the first awarded to Lamb Of God’s lead vocalist, Randy Blythe, for the 49th Annual Grammy Awards in 2006 in the category of “Best Metal Performance.” Crafted by Tiffany & Co., this beautiful bronze medallion has great karma.

In 2007, Randy auctioned this Grammy medallion to raise money for Myotonic Dystrophy research, with which my children had recently been diagnosed. In the final seconds of the Ebay auction, “D. Gerawan; Fresno, California” swept in with double the prior bid to win the item. Despite being a Lamb of God fan, Mr. Gerawan gave the item back to my kids.

I told Randy what Gerawan had done and he called Mr. Gerawan to express his gratitude. Months later when Lamb of God was on tour in California, Randy contacted Gerawan again and invited him to be his guest at their show and to meet the other band members on the tour bus. This original medallion has since been professionally framed & matted.

Now I’m auctioning it to raise money for Randy’s “sister” (his brother’s wife) who was recently diagnosed with cancer. The proceeds will go to help Randy’s sister with the enormous medical expenses her family faces via her GoFundMe page (https://www.gofundme.com/bi-strong).”
