That's Sir Lars Ulrich To You! METALLICA Drummer Knighted In Denmark

Rock royalty becomes Danish royalty?

Rock royalty becomes Danish royalty?

Metallica are heavy metal royalty, no question about it. But now another royal court has honored one of the members. Drummer Lars Ulrich was born in Denmark and was set for a life of tennis playing, following in the footsteps of his father. That all changed when he saw Deep Purple in concert and decided that rock was his mission in life, and ended up creating the biggest metal band in the world.

Now his home country has honored him for the feat. On May 26th, Ulrich was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Order of Dannebrog by Margrethe II, the Queen of Denmark.

Wikipedia explains the honor as "“a means of honoring and rewarding the faithful servants of the modern Danish state for meritorious civil or military service, for a particular contribution to the arts, sciences or business life or for those working for Danish interests.”
