Zakk Wylde has dropped off the Jimi Hendrix tribute tour Experience Hendrix in order to start preparing for Ozzy Osbourne's upcoming Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame induction show.
Organizers of the Experience Hendrix tour commented, saying: "Due to unavoidable scheduling conflicts, Zakk Wylde will be unable to perform at the remaining dates of the Experience Hendrix tour. This is due to his inclusion in the upcoming performance honoring Ozzy Osbourne's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
"The affected tour dates are as follows: October 15th – October 19th."
"We apologize to fans for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding as Zakk takes part in this momentous occasion. All other scheduled performances on the 'Experience Hendrix' tour will continue as planned."
Ozzy Osbourne's induction will take place on October 19 at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland, OH. Osbourne's band features tons of big names from both within and outside his career, including:
- Billy Idol
- Maynard James Keenan
- Jelly Roll
- Zakk Wylde
- Andrew Watt
- Steve Stevens
- Wolfgang Van Halen
- Robert Trujillo
- Chad Smith
Actor Jack Black will also deliver the speech to officially induct Osbourne, who has not revealed if he will join in singing at the show or not. Still, he shared his excitement about the musicians set to perform in his honor in a recent interview with Rolling Stone, saying: "Billy Idol is a rock icon. His music is timeless. Billy Idol should be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. Maynard has been a true family friend since 1997. He is such a creative force. There are few artists who can keep three successful bands going for multiple decades.
He continued: "Who doesn’t love Jelly Roll? His voice is soulful, pure, and dirty. I'm so honored that someone would do this for me who I've never had the pleasure of meeting."
Ozzy’s induction recognizes his nearly six decades in music, adding to his previous honor when Black Sabbath was inducted in 2006. This achievement makes him part of a select group of artists who have received multiple inductions into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
