A debate was raging on the floor of Congress this week over the HR-1 bill, which CNN says is a "sweeping legislative proposal” that “seeks to enact wide-ranging ethics reform, expand voting rights and mandate the disclosure of presidential tax returns.” As you can imagine, if you've been following the U.S. political discourse, Democrats are for it and Republicans are against it.
A debate ensued between Congressmen Mark Pocan (D-Wisconsin) and Rodney Davis (R-Iowa). Pocan was arguing against a specific provision, stating that only four of 77,000 people wanted to keep it, then joking “probably about the percent of people who think Nickelback is their favorite band in this country.”
Having no sense of self-awareness, Davis rebutts asking why Pocan would “criticize one of the greatest bands of the ’90s.” Davis would later in the day champion other notable rock acts like Creed, Bush and Poison. So this guy really has his finger on the pulse of great rock music.
Pocan responded this is “one more reason why there’s a difference between Democrats and Republicans.”

Rodney Davis actually kept talking about his love of Nickelback for another 40 seconds or so when it was his turn to speak again. pic.twitter.com/PQQERt9d6S
