Iron Maiden's Trooper beer recently surpassed 3.5 million bottles shipped which is a huge accomplishment for a niche beer that is less than a year old. But, is it any good?
The official site of the beer describes it as such:
Malt flavours and citric notes from a unique blend of Bobec, Goldings and Cascade hops dominate this deep golden ale with a subtle hint of lemon.
When I initially saw this, I was excited because my favorite types of beers are Belgian ales, white ales or lagers. However, when I tried the beer (which was the most expensive beer served at the bar, by the way) I was disappointed with how incredibly bitter the beer is. It was not a pleasant experience and once the wow factor of drinking a metal band's beer died down, I realized I spent $8 on a shitty beer and won't be making that mistake again. Anybody I've asked has had the same reaction: "too bitter."
