Question of the Day

What Is Your Favorite SEPULTURA Song?

Metal Injection is excited to present the 30th anniversary tour of Dave Grohl's favorite Brazilian band, Sepultura. The band is celebrating with a killer tour next month and we figured it would be a good time to ask some of the other bands on the bill what their favorite track from the band is.

Before we proceed, we got this message from Sepultura guitarist Andreas Kisser who had this to say about the tour:

I’m very happy to be back in North America together with our friends from Destruction and Arsis to celebrate 30 years of history, it has been a very special year for us and we feel stronger than ever. We will play songs from the whole history of Sepultura including stuff like "Bestial Devastation", the first Sepultura recording, "From the Past Comes the Storms", the first song I ever wrote with Sepultura and stuff from Derrick’s era which we didn’t play for so many years like "Mindwar"! North America get ready for a tour of a life time, see you all soon!

Direct support for the tour comes from Destruction, whose vocalist, Schmeir, offered these words:

"Sepultura are long time friends and it’s always great to tour with the Brazilian thrash brothers! We share a lot of great historical moments together and this is a killer package for the fans, so we are really looking forward to this North American tour!"

We asked some of the openers to pick their favorite song from the band's long history. Here's what they came back to us with…

" I can still remember purchasing Sepultura's Dead Embryonic Cells EP on cassette over 20 years ago. It was one of my first experiences with more extreme metal. A lot has happened over the last 20 years, and it's going to be awesome to be able to tour with one of the bands that I looked up to you at a young age.

Coby:  Sepultura were a massive influence to all of us growing up. We used to cover their songs when we were just starting out in bands, to think that we are now about to tour with them is honestly unbelievable. Our favorite song and the one we used to cover was "Roots Bloody Roots"

The Last Ten Seconds of Life:

The almighty Sepultura, where do I begin. There are so many amazing songs by this legendary band, its tough to choose just one. At the end of the day, I’d have to go with  “Attitude”.  What I love about this song is the dark introduction, to the heavy build up with a didgeridoo which is badass, then the song explodes from there. The music video for “Attitude” shows a gnarly cage match with the band playing in the background and honestly, this is so heavy, its makes me want to be in a cage match. I was in high school when I first heard this song and I remember saying to myself… GODDDD DAMNNNN! After that, it was on repeat.  From the bottom of my heart, I want to give a HUGE thank you to Sepultura and Dan DeFonce/Rock The Nation USA for giving us this amazing  opportunity to be on this tour.
