Six Brew Bantha, or Sixbrewbantha, spelled whichever way you want it to be spelled as per the band, have been chruning out righteous, raw grindcore outta Victoria, BC since 2009. The three piece have done multiple splits with other killer bands like Water Torture, Archagathus, and Suffering Mind and also have a self-titled LP to their name that came out in 2012. They've been active and completely nuts so far. The sporadic, bounce and jarring tonal assaults have made them one of the more standout and solid bands in the genre. And now they've unleashed their latest peeler Intravenously Commodified.

If you've heard Six Brew Bantha before, you know they're akin to other heavy hitters like Phobia or Insect Warfare. They sound a lot more like the latter. Which also means they sound a lot like Death Toll 80k. Though a little less caustic, they're still just as raw.

Intravenously Commodified is three things: thrash, grind, groove. It's a piece that kicks up, gives you the horns and doesn't stop throwing you around until its eighteen minutes have run their course. And while a lot of bands in grindcore push that raw, bashing sound, it's bands like Six Brew Bantha that are good at it. They come onto the record sparing no one and absolutely killing it with “The Architect.”

It can't be said enough or with any sort of proper metaphor/simile how much Six Brew Bantha kills. From their blasts, to their inserted blasts, to their thrash, the band is fantastic at crafting bite sized, quick killers. Tracks like “Massive Surveillance” and the five-minute “Trampled to Death” showcase a thrashier side, with punches that up the ante of an already neck-breaking experience.

When it comes to approach, a lot of bands can do what Six Brew Bantha already do. They just don't do it as well. They're like Canada's Wormrot with more groove. The savage sound is still there though the recording comes off as a little quiet in comparison to a lot of other releases in the genre. But turning your speakers up to eleven is an easy fix.

It's hard to say something about this that hasn't already been said about the genre. Like Extortion they don't do anything new with their genre, they just do everything extremely well. Intravenously Commodified is an insanely great release for grindcore and Six Brew Bantha have a veteran sound for the genre. The album is jaunting and full of twists and turns; never boring and always raging. Solid genre tunes are often the best kind. This is made by grindcore lovers and is for grindcore lovers.

Six Brew Bantha's bandcamp isn't offering Intravenously Commodified for free, but the band themselves are. Get it here.

And as always, you can find me here.
