Dios mío, mang. Has it been that long already? 'Tis true. Rage Against the Machine was released on this day, November 3, in 1992. Though we've each heard "Killing in the Name" thousands of times at this point, Rage's debut LP has stood the test of time, remaining arguably the finest work in their (albeit small) discography.
In its heyday, the album hit #1 on Billboard's "Heatseekers" chart and #45 on the Top 200. Which, honestly, seems pretty low considering the incredible life the aforementioned single has had since. Anywho, regardless of where it charted in '92, Rage Against the Machine hit #1 on the Top 200 in my heart. <3
If you wanna feel extra super-duper old, though, chase this news with some live footage of Rage from earlier that same year. The February 1992 performance almost exclusively features cuts that would later comprise the album, including "Bombtrack," "Know Your Enemy," and "Take the Power Back." Bonus points to anyone who can identify Claremont, CA on a map.
