At The Gates and Ace of Base are two acts who couldn't possibly sound more differently. One invented a new genre of heavy metal and the other had a few pop hits in the 90s and then some members were outed as Nazis.
But they have more in common than you think. Both groups originated in Gothenburg, Sweden. And there is even another connection.
During a recent video with our friends at MetalSucks, At The Gates frontman Tomas Lindberg revealed that he actually went to school with one of the musicians who saw the sign and it opened up their eyes.
"I went to school with one of the girls. We had the same music class." Lindberg tells MetalSucks. The video had At The Gates review Swedish pop videos. It's interesting how these two musicians took two separate routes with their music knowledge.
As for Ace of Base's track "Don't Turn Around," Lindberg quips "I went to school with one of the girls. We had the same music class."
