I have yet to hear longtime Metallica producer Bob Rock on Chris Jericho's podcast, but it seems like there are a ton of nuggets of interesting information. Last week, it was reported Rock said that James Hetfield looked to Chris Isaak for vocal inspiration on the Black album.
Today, we have another nugget. The topic of Metallica's St. Anger came up. The album has mostly been panned by critics, but two pretty big heavy hitters in the rock world gave the album a thumbs up:
“I know Jimmy [Page]. He got up and walked over to me, gave me a big hug, and said, ‘It’s great to see you, I love the St. Anger album.’
“I was at [a movie] premiere, and Jack White came over. He says, ‘I’m Jack White.’ I said, ‘I know.’ He says, ‘That’s my favorite Metallica album.’ So I’m okay with those two.”
I have the upmost respect for Jimmy Page, but were he and I listening to the same album? Between this and David Bowie coming out in support of their collaboration with Lou Reed, I'm beginning to think Metallica have drugged the rock world elite or something.
