Quiet Riot drummer Frankie Banali passed away on Thursday night, August 20, at the age of 68 after a battle with pancreatic cancer. Banali was originally diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer in April 2019, and returned to the stage last November after successful cancer treatments. Banali unfortunately was re-admitted to the hospital this June, and unfortunately suffered a stroke earlier this month.
No further details are available at this time, and funeral plans have not yet been announced.
Banali drummed on and off for Quiet Riot between 1982 and present day, and for W.A.S.P. on and off between 1989 and 2004. R.I.P. Frankie Banali, and thanks for all the music over the years.
Tributes to Banali have already begun pouring in from his Quiet Riot bandmates, as well as members of Twisted Sister, Sons of Apollo, Anthrax, and Guns N' Roses (and more).
Wow. What a day. So sad to hear about the loss of @FrankieBanali. He fought hard until the end. His playing and rock 'n' roll spirit will live forever. A fellow New Yorker, Frankie was the real deal. RIP my friend.
