Holy crap, we almost went a whole day without writing about Slayer. Ever since they began their promo cycle for their new album, Repentless, we've been learning a lot about the thrash legends. We've learned that Tom Araya really hates touring, Kerry King thinks the Grammys are both "retarded" and "important" and that King loves Ghost's imagery, but hates their music.
Today I learned that when King named their named their new album, Repentless, he had no idea such a word didn't exist:
"I made [the word] up. I didn't realize I made it up. I mean, it seemed like a word to me, and then I looked it up and it wasn't there. [Laughs] To me, 'repentless,' you know, is, basically, having no regrets, not looking back and saying, 'I wish I should have done things differently.' 'Repentless' is meaning I have no reason to repent."
Kerry, the word you were thinking of is actually unrepentant but we enjoy making up words too.
Repentless is out 9/11.
