Down haven't played together since 2016, but it looks like that's changing in 2020. The band have been announced for two festivals so far and both advertise the band playing their landmark debut record NOLA in full.
The record of course features an all star collection of Southern hard rock musicians including Philip Anselmo on vocals, Corrosion of Conformity's Pepper Keenan and Crowbar's Kirk Windstein on guitars, and Eyehategod's Jimmy Bower on drums.
So far, two shows have been confirmed:Â Denmark's Copenhell festival, which is set for June 17th-20th and Graspop Metal Meeting festival, set to take place June 18-21, 2020 in Dessel, Belgium.
The big question is will Kirk Windstein join the rest of the band on tour. Kirk left down, amicably in 2013 to focus on his family and his other musical projects.
A recent interview with Phil Anselmo by Metal Nexus seems to suggest Kirk would be back in the fold. Phil was quoted as saying "We do have the 20th [sic] anniversary of 'NOLA' coming up, and I know that we have been offered some shows. And that's all I know," he said at the time. "Pepper's still on tour. Crowbar's always on tour. And Eyehategod, they're on tour for a long time."
Graspop's announcement of the NOLA special included a promo photo with Kirk on it, so fingers crossed.
