METALLICA announce awesome openers for Fall 2009 Tour

Damn, METALLICA sure knows how to pick opening acts lately. Gone are the days when such rock radio mainstays as GODSMACK and LIMP BIZKIT would be asked to open for the band. Now, the grandpa thrashers are actually picking really talented acts who I honestly would be more interested in seeing than METALLICA themselves. Already announced as direct support for this area tour, are the leaders of the New Wave of American Heavy Metal, LAMB OF GOD who are always fun to see. But earlier today, I nearly jumped out of my chair when I read that my favorite band right now, the French whale lovers GOJIRA have been added as support for the first half of the tour (through October 18th) and then VOLBEAT take over for the other half. I was immediately bummed when I saw Gojira wouldn't be at the NY dates, but still this is a great opportunity for those guys. Check out the full itinerary after the jump…
