Last August, Mötley Crüe were dropping hints that they were hanging it up sometime in the near future, there just weren't concrete plans laid out yet. Fast forward to a press conference held on yesterday (Tuesday, Jan. 28), where the band finally made the announcement- this year and next year will be the last we'll ever hear of the band.
Each member of the band signed a Cessation of Touring Agreement at the press conference which becomes effective at the end of 2015, legally binding them to never tour again. The cessation agreement includes a clause that nobody can take the name of the band tour with it without everyone else in it, which is a great idea.
So what can you expect from the final tour (which is actually called The Final Tour)?
"When it comes to putting together a new show we always push the envelope and that's part of Mötley Crüe's legacy," explains Nikki Sixx (bass). "As far as letting on to what we're doing, that would be like finding out what you're getting for Christmas before you open the presents. We think in an age of too much information, we'd like to keep some surprises close to our chest until we launch The Final Tour."
The tour will kick off on Jul. 2 in Grand Rapids, Mi. and reach major markets across the globe. Alice Cooper will be the support for the tour, who I imagine will continue touring well into his 90s. Here are the dates:

So that's it for the Crüe, man! That's pretty crazy considering how well the band have done since their inception in the 1980 in both album sales and general tour reception. As much as I'm sure a good portion of our readership aren't fans, they're worth your respect at least for keeping themselves afloat this long (except Vince Neil. I'm not sure the drunken car crash is forgivable).
