BLOODBATH Announces Grand Morbid Funeral, Vocalist To Be Revealed Next Week

We're so close I can taste it… that iron taste.

We're so close I can taste it... that iron taste.

We've been talking about new Bloodbath for at least a year now, mainly due to their teasing information of a new record and the unknown identity of their vocalist. Now we know the group will be dropping their first record in six years, Grand Morbid Funeral, on November 16 via Peaceville Records. Guitarist for the group Anders "Blakkheim" Nystrom (Katatonia) described the record as a sludgy disgusting pile of death metal, but don't take my word for it.

“We’re proud of all these different styled releases and we loved doing each and every one of them, but the objective was never to settle with a certain style, so our time has come to shift once more. It was already decided right after the last album that the next record would not becomeThe Fathomless Mastery part two, but in certain aspects it would actually become its antithesis. So prepare for an ultimate blueprint of destructive, raw, heavy, organic, and sludgy death metal.”

Just in the unlikely event you weren't super stoked about this record already, there's that. The record will be the group's first since the departure of Opeth frontman Mikael Åkerfeldt, though it's worth mentioning the group has also worked with vocalist Peter Tägtgren in the past. So it's not like this will be the first record without Åkerfeldt. Metal Hammer, the glorious establishment of metal that has so kindly brought us this great news, will also be revealing the new vocalist next week on September 16. Stay tuned!
