Deftones will release their long-awaited new album Ohms on September 25. The album features a song called "Pompeji", which which vocalist Chino Moreno and drummer Abe Cunningham told Kerrang! finally featured some seagulls. Moreno added this is something he's always wanted to use, but never had the chance.
"It’s funny, because I’ve always wanted to put them in a song," said Moreno. "They’re sort of spooky. Don Henley’s 'Boys Of Summer' has this one little section where you hear seagulls and it always made me feel creepy.
"I like it because it changes the setting of the song. It takes you somewhere."
"We’ve had crickets before," jokes Cunningham. "There are always teeny hidden beasts and insects stashed away."
Ohms was produced by Terry Date (Pantera, Soundgarden) and is available for pre-order here. You can check out the title track below if you haven't done so already. It's great!
