Deftones seemed all geared up to release their long-awaited new album this year, but the COVID-19 pandemic is really putting the brakes on the music industry. That's not stopping the band from finishing up.
In an Instagram live video, Deftones drummer Abe Cunningham said the band is currently mixing the new album, but "it's been a bit difficult to get everyone in the same room."
"We're currently mixing it. Given the current situation, it's been a bit difficult to get everyone in the same room. We can't. So, we're at least still doing that. I wanted to thank you for your patience, obviously, and, of course, your interest in that. It's coming."
As far as how the music will sound, vocalist Chino Moreno once compared it to the experimental nature of Deftones' breakout record White Pony. So that's exciting.
While you're waiting, Deftones are launching a livestream event series on Twitch starting tonight at 8pm with keyboardist and sampler Frank Delgado.
