Well, now that Randy Blythe is no longer on Twitter, I guess my favorite celebrity tweeter would be Devin Townsend. The dude is all about keeping his fans in the loop on his project and I think that's quite commendable. Devy is putting the final touches on his latest release, Epicloud, which he said was supposed to bridge the gap between the four records he released under The Devin Townsend Project and Ziltoid 2. Turns out it turned out even better than he expected. Here is what he tweeted recently:
“Epicloud: Initially an ‘in between’ idea to bridge the 4 last albums and Z2…a way to satisfy my recent craving for melodic hard rock…It became an epic experiment. way more intense and demanding than I expected.
“Experiments in all ways of making records. Democracy, mix…it’s beautiful, melancholy, loud, and ‘detached’ in an experimental way,” Devin says, adding he “wanted to make something ‘larger than life’…
“Any way you slice it, it’s beautiful… and even as an ‘interim’ idea, it stands unique among things I’ve done, and as something very special
“Oh, and…it’s freaking Epic!! I’d say mixture of melodic parts of Ocean Machine, Rocking bits like Addicted, simplicity in parts like Accelerated, but more dynamic. …And tried to mix it so you could crank it up.”
You won't have to wait too long for Epicloud, it is set for a September release through Heavy Devy Records. Devy also has a live DVD coming out this summer, and we premiered an exclusive clip from that DVD today.
