Don't expect Exodus to follow up 2014's Blood In, Blood Out anytime soon. According to frontman Steve "Zetro" Souza, the band won't try to crank out a new album between Gary Holt's touring cycles with Slayer. Souza adds that the band would much rather let Holt finish out Slayer and then come back to Exodus, but does state that there are some new Exodus riffs and song ideas floating around.
"We all know where Gary Holt is right now. We wanna let him finish that commitment, and none of us really know how long that commitment is. What we don't wanna do is we don't wanna say that Slayer takes three months off, and, 'Let's go do a record real quick,' and then they're going to continue the final tour. We all decided that it was better than Gary finishes the final tour with Slayer."
Souza adds that even after Holt is done with the Slayer farewell tours, they've still got to write and record the new album. He says it probably won't be out until late 2019 or early 2020, but adds the material they do have is "very violent and very heavy."
I think it's just a general rule for me that I'd much rather wait for a band to come out with some awesome than rush to finish something that'll only be decent.
