Abraham – Look, Here Comes The Dark!THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From CHRCH, SEVENDUST, BAD WOLVES and More Out Today – 5/11

Genre: Post-metal
Origin: Lausanne, Switzerland
Label: Pelagic

If you like things slow and/or atmospheric, you're going to have a blissful week of new releases. Perhaps the best place to start will be with Abraham. These Swiss post-metal folks haven't dropped a new album in six years, and they came back with this nineteen track, two disc epic. It is a lot to tackle at once, but it is a really strong album.

Bad Wolves – Disobey THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From CHRCH, SEVENDUST, BAD WOLVES and More Out Today – 5/11

Genre: Metal
Origin: Los Angeles, California
Label: Eleven Seven Music

Perhaps most known for their surprise hit cover of Cranberries "Zombie," Bad Wolves were already set up to be a voice in modern metal based on their members alone. The group features Doc formerly from God Forbid, Tommy Vext formerly from Divine Heresy, and others. It's been in the works for a while now, and it's cool to finally hear it. I wonder how it will do in the greater scheme of things. Will they be the next big thing, or will they go the way of Alien Ant Farm with a hit cover and then a respectable output that doesn't manage to crossover again?

The Body – I Have Fought Against It, But I Can't Any Longer THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From CHRCH, SEVENDUST, BAD WOLVES and More Out Today – 5/11

Genre: Experimental
Origin: Providence, Rhode Island
Label: Thrill Jockey

Can The Body relax? Like, are they physically able to? I don't think they are. Last year they released a lauded collaboration with Full of Hell and an EP of their own. This album its a full-length of just them, but it's only May so who knows what else is coming from this noisy bunch. Michael has a full review here.

Chrch – Light Will Consume Us All THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From CHRCH, SEVENDUST, BAD WOLVES and More Out Today – 5/11

Genre: Doom
Origin: Sacramento, California
Label: Neurot

This three song doom offering is well worth your time. It's heavy in every way and fucking intense. This band is the best thing happening is Sacramento right now and with this record they are rightfully poised to take the doom world.

Child Bite – Burnt OfferingsTHE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From CHRCH, SEVENDUST, BAD WOLVES and More Out Today – 5/11

Genre: Hardcore/noise
Origin: Detroit, Michigan
Label: Housecore

I typically don't bother with compilations, just because everything is already out in the world, so why highlight it as a "new release"?  However, I am making an exception with Burnt Offerings, because this compilation is so vast and varied. The first handful of songs are re-released from a vinyl pressing, then there are some left over demos, all of which are pretty cool. Disc two is all covers of stuff like Celtic Frost and Anal Cunt, and disc two also features some appearances of Phil Anselmo. I don't know a lot about Child Bite, but this served as a good introduction to what they're about.

Sevendust – All I See Is War THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From CHRCH, SEVENDUST, BAD WOLVES and More Out Today – 5/11

Genre: Alternative metal
Origin: Atlanta, Georgia
Label: Rise

Yes, even in 2018 Sevendust deserves your attention. They come from an iffy time in metal's history that I feel like they are still wrongfully lumped in with. However, they have grown really well. All I See Is War has some really good guitar work that I was surprised by, but the star continues to be that fucking voice of Lajon Witherspoon. God damn.

Skinless – Savagery THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From CHRCH, SEVENDUST, BAD WOLVES and More Out Today – 5/11

Genre: Brutal death metal
Origin: Glens Falls, New York
Label: Relapse

I'm ending this week heavy. This album is, start to finish, the sonic equivalent of a stomp on the head. It feels like absolute chaos sometimes. But. you know, chaos filtered through death metal.
