To the metals…

Agnostic Front – Get Loud! THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From BLIND GUARDIAN, SLAYER, AGNOSTIC FRONT, and More Out Today – 11/8

Genre: Hardcore
Origin: New York, New York
Label: Nuclear Blast

With almost forty years of fury, it's impressive that they still have the energy to be this mad. Then again, there's a lot to be mad about right now. Get Loud! is one you'll want to play loud, so the title comes off like more of a command.

Blind Guardian – Twilight Orchestra: Legacy Of The Dark Lands THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From BLIND GUARDIAN, SLAYER, AGNOSTIC FRONT, and More Out Today – 11/8

Genre: Power metal
Origin: Krefeld, Germany
Label: Nuclear Blast

It wouldn't be a Blind Guardian album if it wasn't epic, and this might me the biggest thing the band has ever done. However, there is something missing, and that's the rest of Blind Guardian. Hansi Kürsch has teamed with The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra to tell the tale of the novel Die Dunklen Lande. So you're getting a orchestral piece rather than an orchestral metal piece. Still, there is A LOT going on here and a lot to love.

Edge Of Paradise – Universe THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From BLIND GUARDIAN, SLAYER, AGNOSTIC FRONT, and More Out Today – 11/8

Genre: "Space metal"
Origin: Los Angeles, California
Label: Frontiers

This band caught my eye because of their self-identification as "space metal." I thought I knew what that sounds like, but I wanted to make sure, and I'm glad I gave them a go. Turns out space metal is groovy, modern metal, with massive choruses and some goth tinges to it. Edge Of Paradise might be the most diverse offering for this week. I'm a fan

Mammoth Mammoth – Kreuzung THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From BLIND GUARDIAN, SLAYER, AGNOSTIC FRONT, and More Out Today – 11/8

Genre: Hard rock/stoner
Origin: Melbourne, Australia
Label: Napalm

This band is is all about riffs. Riffs and swagger. And yet, there are some Rob Zombie vibes. They wind up putting a spooky twist on what could otherwise get lost in the throwback rock scene. This was a fun one.

Schammasch – Hearts Of No Light THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From BLIND GUARDIAN, SLAYER, AGNOSTIC FRONT, and More Out Today – 11/8

Genre: Avant-garde/black metal
Origin: Basel, Switzerland
Label: Prosthetic

This is black metal with some weirdness mixed in. Some of the more grim folks in the Metal Injection writer's dungeon love this. I'd imagine if you're a fan of metal with uneasiness and mystique, this will be your jam.

Slayer – The Repentless KillogyTHE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From BLIND GUARDIAN, SLAYER, AGNOSTIC FRONT, and More Out Today – 11/8

Genre: Thrash
Origin: Huntington Park, California
Label: Nuclear Blast

Slayer are rounding the corner on their final tour. While I've been wronged too many times to believe a band really breaks up, this live collection would be a solid send off for one of thrash's greats. They cover their entire career there and seem to include some sort of film comprised of music videos that features Danny Trejo. This is a must for Slayer fans, it's just a shame that half of the original guys weren't a part of this.

Taylor Hawkins & The Coattail Riders – Get The Money THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From BLIND GUARDIAN, SLAYER, AGNOSTIC FRONT, and More Out Today – 11/8

Genre: Hard rock
Origin: Fort Worth, Texas
Label: Shanabelle/Columbia Records

Let's wrap this week with some straight up rock goodness. The drummer of the Foo Fighters is back with pals The Coattail Riders as well Chrissie Hynde from The Pretenders, Duff McKagan from Guns N Roses, Dave Grohl from, lets go with Tenacious D, and LeAnn Rimes from country music. Surprisingly, this is a proggier offering than his Foo work, but those fans should still dig it.
