A Skylit Drive – ASD
Genre: Post-hardcore
Origin: Lodi, California
Label: Tragic Hero

Well constructed poppy post-hardcore with pretty solid musicianship. The vocals put this in whiny place, so I fully expect the, "I thought this was METAL Injection." Whatev's. Slow week.

Aevangelist – Enthrall To The Void Of Bliss
Genre: Black/death metal
Origin: Arlington Heights, Illinois / Portland, Oregon
Label: 20 Buck Spin

Lo-fi, experimental, darkness is all I can say about this. Parts of what could be a really cool blackened death metal experiences could be here, but the mix is a detriment to itself.

This is a really cool and different record that I've been sitting with for a while now. It features atmospheric and rather epic synth/keyboard work that pairs well the with infectiously rhythmic sludginess that it soars over. This is a fantastic release from a unique metal collective that I hope to hear a lot more from. I feel like I've been saying this a lot lately, but this is one that'll be in my 2015 best of list.

Monster Magnet – Cobras and Fire (The Mastermind Redux)
Genre: Red Bank, New Jersey
Origin: Stoner rock
Label: Napalm

Another remix release from Monster Magnet. The time they did this before was to capture a "60's sound," and it sounds like that's what they were going for here too. I'm not into the band enough to really get what's going on with these Redux albums. The overall mood is pretty cool though.

W.A.S.P.- Golgotha
Genre: Heavy metla
Origin: Los Angeles, California
Label: Napalm

This band aged a bit better than I expected, although WASP were always a favorite of their era. The silly dark theatrics separated them from the pack to me. Now they sound like any other fist-in-the-air power metal band, and that could keep them going strong.
