Exhorder released their first record in 27 years Mourn The Southern Skies in 2019 and they're not done yet! According to vocalist Kyle Thomas, Exhorder is currently recording their next album, which will be their first effort with former Cannibal Corpse guitarist Pat O'Brien.
O'Brien filled in for ex-Exhorder guitarist Marzi Montazeri in 2022 at the Maryland Deathfest festival, and now it looks like his position in the band is a little more permanent? It's also good to see O'Brien getting back out there – dude was a riff machine in both Cannibal Corpse and Nevermore, and I'm sure will pick that role right back up in Exhorder.
"Round one of new Exhorder album recording sessions officially wrapped up yesterday evening! Today I fly back home to New Orleans in the midst of Mardi Gras pandemonium.
"Might as well get into the carnival spirit with this Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale, which is quite tasty, I must say! I lift this glass to my brothers in arms in Exhorder for the most exciting and enjoyable sessions I’ve been a part of in decades. Preparedness and good company goes a long way! All we have left at this point is vocals, bass, and Pat's solos. We’re over the moon with how things are going!
"Thanks to Robbie Nadler at Fast Track Studio for his amazing work and insight. It was very easy for us to self produce these sessions with him at the engineering helm.
"Thanks also to our label, Nuclear Blast, for facilitating things so we could get the sessions under way. We appreciate your enthusiasm around this project, and we will deliver!
"And lastly, thanks to the VieBrooks family for the hospitality and company this month. It’s not easy housing vagabonds like me and Sasha for this long! Stay tuned for more- because we’re coming at ya! And happy Mardi Gras, everyone!"
