We know Korn was in the studio with producer Nick Raskulinecz (Mastodon, Deftones) back in January as they recorded vocals for a new album. We haven't heard anything else from the group since then, but now they've posted a cryptic teaser on Instagram that directs you to their website.
The Korn website then says "WATCH IT ALL FALL DOWN …" and asks for your email address. So it seems fairly safe to assume the band is teasing a new album, maybe even ahead of their coming tour with Alice In Chains, Underoath, Ho99o9 and Fever 333.
In an interview with Consequence Of Sound last December, guitarist Brian "Head" Welch made it clear most of the instruments aren't recorded, and they might not be done writing yet:
“At this time, guitars aren’t finished, and I don’t know if we’re done writing. We’ve written a lot, but I’m not sure if we’re done writing yet. Bass is not done. Most of the drums are done on the songs we have, and a little bit of vocals have been worked on.”
In a new interview with Revolver, guitarist Brian "Head" Welch says that Korn wrote some new songs with Goldfinger's John Feldmann and Blink-182's drummer Travis Barker, though the latter of which worked mainly on drums. Welch also says "we're writing with different people."
"We're doing it all over. We've been to Nashville a few times, we've done a lot in L.A. We actually wrote with John Feldmann, too, for the demos. Travis Barker laid the temporary drums for some, and that was cool. We've known John Feldmann since '87 — he was in Electric Love Hogs. So we're writing with different people. We grabbed [producer] Nick Raskulinecz, and he's very hands on and such a fan of music. It's not a job or a gig to him."
No word on if Mike Huckabee will be on the album. Perhaps the band got a chance to get some pointers from Ed Sheeran, since he's such a professed big fan.
