KORN Wrote Some New Songs With BLINK-182's Travis Barker, New Album Out Next Fall

So… they have outside writers?

So... they have outside writers?

The saga of Korn potentially bringing in outside writers continues. Back in May, Korn frontman Jonathan Davis said the band was working with "different people" on the new material. He then clarified that the "different people" were producers, not outside writers, and that the Internet needs to chill.

"[Munky and Head] been working with a couple of different producers. I fucking hate the Internet, man. I say, 'Hey, the guys have been working with a couple of people,' and they say, 'Oh, now they're using writers, and they suck.' I fucking hate it! They're working with two producers."

In a new interview with Revolver, guitarist Brian "Head" Welch says that Korn wrote some new songs with Goldfinger's John Feldmann and Blink-182's drummer Travis Barker, though the latter of which worked mainly on drums. Welch also says "we're writing with different people." So there seems to be a bit of a conflict here in terms of if Korn's new record was written solely by the band or if they recruited outside help. Not that that's a bad thing – artists do that more often than most fans know.

"We're doing it all over. We've been to Nashville a few times, we've done a lot in L.A. We actually wrote with John Feldmann, too, for the demos. Travis Barker laid the temporary drums for some, and that was cool. We've known John Feldmann since '87 — he was in Electric Love Hogs. So we're writing with different people. We grabbed [producer] Nick Raskulinecz, and he's very hands on and such a fan of music. It's not a job or a gig to him."

As far as a timeline for the new record, Welch says the band is aiming to wrap it up in the beginning of 2019 and that the album"should be out by next fall. We have to get it out, because we want to get back to the fans next year and do our thing."
