Legendary shredder and former Megadeth guitarist Marty Friedman announced he'd be releasing a new record called Inferno early in 2014 via Prosthetic Records with some killer guests! Prepare yourselves for ludicrous speed!
In case you're curious, Inferno is such a big deal because this is Friedman's first record available in U.S. markets (and even on a U.S. label) since his 2003 record, Music for Speeding. Hooray for that! The world needs more Friedman. The album will include guest playing by Alexi Laiho from Children of Bodom, Dave Davidson from Revocation, Rodrigo Sanchez and Gabriela Quintero of Rodrigo y Gabriela, and Friedman's former Cacophony bandmate, Jason Becker!
I don't even like shred records and I'm interested. Friedman said about the record:
"It definitely doesn't sound like that stuff, if only because my playing has a thousand times more richness and deepness and intensity than what I was able to do with the chops I had back then," he said. "Truthfully, I can't even listen to a lot of my old material. Some of the ideas were good, but the execution was just absolutely unacceptable. I will say that a lot of the same spirit I had back in the day is coming back into play now, on this record. That idea of just going completely balls-out with my playing I there again. It's kind of a childish way to think, but my goal on this record was just to go completely ape shit and smoke everything else I've ever done."
