Alright, when is new Mastodon coming and exactly how much are we getting? According to a recent post from the band, there's new stuff coming sooner than you think. Though the more interesting answer to the above question came from Mastodon drummer Brann Dailor, who recently revealed Mastodon has "two projects" in the works – not a double album, two projects.
Now in a new interview with Rock 100.5 The KATT FM, Dailor mentioned Mastodon has been working on new stuff for months and that there's "something new coming out really, really soon." Or at least that was the hint before he retracted it in the next sentence.
"New Mastodon, it's taking shape," said Dailor. "There's lots of new material and lots and lots of new stuff. There might be something new coming out really, really soon. But who knows? Who knows? I don't know. We've been working on new stuff for months. And we need to go home.
"In between all the other festivals that we're doing — we're doing a few different little sprinklings of things — in between that stuff, we need to finish working on… write some actual lyrics would be cool. We're always a lyrics-last kind of band."
In the meantime, Mastodon recently announced a remastered version of Crack The Skye featuring some extra goodies.
