Seeing as though Metallica's 3D movie, Through The Never bombed here in the States and overseas, the band is now gearing up for the home video release of the film, which by the way, I thought was excellent. Metallica announced today that the film will be released on DVD, Blu-Ray, 3D Blu-Ray, digitally and V.O.D. (Video On Demand) on January 28, 2014 in various packagings.
Most iterations will come with the full movie on one DVD/Bluray and then a special documentary on the making of the movie as well as a few other extras. Then there is of course the special edition packaging for super-fans:
A special limited-edition package will be available with extra goodies for our die-hard fans and the Met Club family can also expect to get a first crack at grabbing a limited-edition set including a piece of an actual stage prop used in the film as well as a lithograph print autographed by the four of us.
Full details of the release can be seen on Metallica's site. Hopefully, the band can recoup some money on this release. I'm honestly a bit taken aback that they were not able to rush this to be out by the holiday shopping season but I guess they needed some turn around time.
Will you be picking this up?
