We were promised a new Morbid Angel album in 2017, and it certainly looks like that promise is going to be kept. The band officially consists of guitarist Trey Azagthoth and bassists/vocalist Steve Tucker, whose last performance on a Morbid Angel album was 2003's Heretic.
While Morbid Angel doesn't currently have a drummer in the band, Azahthoth has taken to Facebook to announce that Scott Fuller (ex-Abysmal Dawn, Annihilated) will be performing drums on the new album! Whether or not he'll join the band is a whole different story, but still.
Morbid Angel has also announced its currently in the studio with Erik Rutan. Rutan engineered 2011's Illud Divinum Insanus, but was also in Morbid Angel between 1993 and 1996, and again from 1999 to 2002. So he's familiar with the heavy stuff!
We have all the drums recorded for the new record, performed by Scott Fuller from Annihilated, and will soon start on the guitars, vocals and bass. It has been awesome working with Erik Rutan and Mana Studios. We have a really cool collection of new material.
