Swedish melodic black/death stalwarts Netherbird are set to release their chef-d’œuvre Into The Vast Uncharted on Sept. 27 via Eisenwald.
The band's first album featuring former Amon Amarth drummer Fredrik Andersson, the sextet blaze through the aether with Scandinavian fury and give us the best output in their 15-year career.
Produced by Hiili Hiilesmaa (HIM, Amorphis, Apocalyptica) and mastered by the legendary Dan Swanö (Incantation, Asphyx, Marduk), Into The Vast Uncharted is relentless with scorching riffs, killer solos, and sonically precise drumming.
There is a lot of Dissection worship on the album with traces of Primordial's epicness, the battery of Marduk and the creativity of Cradle of Filth.
What's wild is that Andersson fits better with Netherbird than he did with his former band. He also exceeds all expectations set by former drummers Adrian Erlandsson (At the Gates, ex-Cradle of Filth) and Nils Fjellström (ex-Dark Funeral, ex-1349).
The introduction of dual-guitar harmonies is worth noting, too, as they add to the melodic side of the record. But don't let the cowboy hats fool you, there's no tomfoolery with this one. It's absolutely abysmal.
