After the passing of bassist Caleb Scofield in 2018, Old Man Gloom vowed to carry on with new music and shows. The band has since commenced work on a new record with Scofield's Cave In bandmate Stephen Brodsky on bass, and we even got to hear a new track at Psycho Las Vegas 2019.
Now in an interview with This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours, drummer Santos Montano said the new record features songs Scofield had tracked at home on an iPad.
“We have a bunch of songs that Caleb wrote coming on this record. And some of them are even tracks that he did multi-tracks at home, just on an iPad. And so we’re gonna be including those songs on this album.”
“…Caleb‘s wife was generous enough to give us the iPad and let us take all the stuff off of it and there were 15 songs on there.”
The new Old Man Gloom record was partially tracked with producer Matt Bayles (Mastodon, Isis) and will be finished with Kurt Ballou (Converge, High On Fire, Trap Them).
