Pig Destroyer releases aren't exactly easy to come by. Between the band's debut in 1998 and now, we've gotten five albums and three EPs, all of which have been of incredible quality. So it's pretty damn exciting to hear vocalist J.R. Hayes say that new material for the group is being worked on, alongside some other stuff!
Hayes makes mention of the album in a post about the upcoming Decibel Grimposium/Choosing Death Festival on April 16 in Philly.
"Hey guys and gals, JR here, I have been spending long hours in the Pig-Cave, working on a variety of projects (yes, including new PD) which I hope to be sharing with you soon. Today, I'm here to pimp my appearance at the Choosing Death Fest/Grimposium in Philadelphia on Saturday, April 16.
It's being billed as a "workshop", but don't worry, there won't really be any work. Instead, I have prepared a short presentation (with the help of my homie Dave Hall) in which I have attempted to deconstruct my personal writing process along with some other random thoughts and assorted horseshit. Afterwards, we can talk about it. Or just get wasted. That works too.
Plus, there's a bunch of other cool stuff, and it's only five bones. If nothing else, you should come out and pay your respects to Dan Seagrave. He did the cover of the first Dismember album, for Christ's sake! And the first Suffocation album! If that's not metal as fuck, then I don't know what is.
Anyway, I hope to see you all there. Oh, and make sure to check out the new Cobalt album, 'cause that shit is crazy good.
Cheers,
-jR"
