In 1996, Sepultura teamed up with Ross Robinson and created the legendary album Roots, which in essence became a part of the nu-metal blueprint. Now, 17 years and a few lineup changes later, the two forces hope to rekindle their relationship by working on a new album.
Obviously, this is not the same Sepultura, seeing as though both Cavalera brothers are out of the group, but Andreas Kisser's talents as a guitarist should not go unnoticed. The band posted this video from the studio updating fans on the progress of the record:

Robinson joked that the food budget on Roots was greater than their entire album budget for this record, but that it's about the passion for the music, which is good to hear. Label budgets are nowhere near what they used to be and Sepultura are no longer on a major label.
The album is being tracked tracked at Robinson's studio in Venice, California and is being co-produced by Steve Evetts, who has recently worked with The Dillinger Escape Plan and Every Time I Die. The band have 13 original songs they will be recording plus a cover of Death, which should be interesting.
An October release of the album is expected. We'll keep you updated with more from the studio as we get it. I am personally curious to check out this collaboration, are you?
