T-PAIN Will Cover BLACK SABBATH & JOURNEY On His Upcoming Album

Maybe it'll be cool!

T Pain

Auto-tuned rapped T-Pain will be flexing the power of his natural voice on his upcoming covers album On Top Of The Covers. Alongside covers of artists like good ol' Satanic Sam Smith and Frank Sinatra are "War Pigs" by Black Sabbath and "Don't Stop Believin'" by Journey.

"This covers album has been years in the making," said T-Pain said in a statement. "I started recording this right after I won the Masked Singer. It got put on hold for a bit but now that I'm independent, I'm able to do whatever I want to do through Nappy Boy Entertainment and this is something I've felt strongly about for a long time."

"These songs are not what you'd expect when you hear that T-Pain is doing a covers album. And that is what I think is cool about it."

Of course the Black Sabbath cover has ruffled some feathers in the metal community, but of course it did – a non-metal artist is covering a metal song and now every alarm is going off.

Because if there's one artist the metal community needs to keep out of the public eye and away from any attention, it's Black Sabbath. Nobody knows about those dudes! They should do something with that other super underground band Metallica, who unfortunately finally saw the light of day in 2022 when Stranger Things broke them onto the scene.

And who knows? Maybe it'll be good. Maybe it'll suck and nobody will talk about it ever again. We'll give it a shot and see what happens, right? On Top Of The Covers is out March 17 and features the following tracklist.

  1. "A Change Is Gonna Come" (Sam Cooke)
  2. "Don't Stop Believin'" (Journey)
  3. "Sharing the Night Together" (Dr. Hook)
  4. "Stay With Me" (Sam Smith)
  5. "Tennessee Whiskey" (Chris Stapleton)
  6. "That's Life feat. NandoSTL" (Frank Sinatra)
  7. "War Pigs" (Black Sabbath)
