Last week photos of Scott Ian of Anthrax and Dethklok's Brendon Small began to circulate the interwebz prompting the question "What Are ANTHRAX Guitarist Scott Ian and DETHKLOK Mastermind Brendon Small Working On?"
At the time the only hint Small gave us was:
"Proud to have made some real garbage today!"
Small was then a guest on Chris Hardwick's Nerdist Podcast and revealed the secret project and even namedropped other heavy hitters involved.
When asked what he does with his free time Small said:
"I still do music stuff. I end up getting roped into other music stuff. I'm doing a ridiculous cover of 'What Does The Fox Say?' With Scott Ian and Brian Posehn."
If you are not aware of Mr. Posehn, all you need to know is that he's a hilarious comedian who was on Mr Show and that he's More Metal Than You. If that doesn't already seem like a fun enough combination, Small adds:
"Oh! And Corey from Slipknot is a part of it. It actually sounds really, really good."
So in case you haven't pieced it all together, the collaboration is Scott Ian and Brendon Small (who also programmed the drums) on guitars duties then Brian Posehn and Corey Taylor on vocals. This unlikely dreamteam is then covering "What Does The Fox Say?" Right now, I'm torn between thinking "Oh my god awesome!" and a hesitant "What the fuck?"
The rest of the podcast is rather entertaining as well. Hardwick and Small discuss a musical about Tron they wrote years ago, the origins of Metalocalypse, Queen, and much more as Small noodles around on guitar the whole time. Listen to that here,
It isn't revealed when it is going to be released, so we're all going to have to keep our eyes peeled for this wonderfully terrible cover. If you're lucky enough to not know "What Does The Fox Say" check out the source material below.
